Pulicat Lake Bird Sanctuary is located
100 kms from Chennai, enroute to Sriharikota. From Chennai you have to take the
highway towards Nellore. At Sullurpet bypass you have there will be a direction
board to Sriharikota . Take right in Sullurpet junction and travel towards
Sriharikota Rocket Launching station. The inland lake would be divided by the
road. So it is happy watching the waters and birds from road side. Information
Centre by Forest Department of Andhra Pradesh is on the right side just adjacent
to the Venadu Island Road.
A drive on the road with excellent breeze and migratory birds on either side gives us a pleasant scenery.
I have identified few birds - Flamingo, Painted Stork,Grey Heron, Grey Pelican, Egrets, Whistling Ducks, Indian Shag.
Dawn and Dusk are the right time to watch these birds.
Packed food and snacks including water should accommodate your bag pack.
